An Exhibition by Rivka Rinn at Praxis Westend, Berlin

 Praxis Westend is a renowned Cardiology and Sports medicine clinic founded in 1998 and utilizes state of the art equipment and techniques in the diagnosis, treatment and procedures of Internal medicine. The Westend practice offers comprehensive care and first class service, so it comes as no surprise that they decided to transform the atmosphere of the clinic.

In May 2010 the committee invited Rivka Rinn, an Israeli artist based in Berlin for an Exhibition of her photographic works to last one year.

My work is concentrating on the idea that velocity is one of the main elements that characterizes our society.

I prefer to deal with the material of reality rather than the material of art, so I titled the exhibition "Insight". It showcases scenes such as people crossing the road, bridges, night drive, driving through landscape, light beam over an airplane wing, which are not but our existence in the everyday life, but our existence within the velocity of everyday life. The days changing into night, the seasons, or bridges that enable us to arrive to our destination, or as Andre Breton define "L'oeil dans l'orloge" the eye inside the watch. Under certain circumstances even crossing a road is not obvious. From this point of view I saw a correlation.

The works chosen were carefully discussed with the collaboration of the doctors who obviously had different approach. The result is a transformation of space from cold and clinical to an atmosphere of functional interior of color, thought and reflection. Another brilliant use of Art in Architecture.

Since 1998 Praxis Westend has treated over 50,000 patients. This transformation of space will certainly enhance the experience of patients now and in the future.
